Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approaches used to achieve successful behaviour change

Any session given by me is underpinned with a strong evidence-base. I ensure this is the case by drawing predominantly on CBT and ACT frameworks due to their previous successful applications in sport and exercise.

CBT heavily looks at the relationship between thoughts, emotions, physical sensations and behaviours, making it an ideal therapeutic method to base sport and exercise psychology sessions around ensuring a fast outcome and visible results are achieved.

ACT uses mindfulness-based approaches to help clients be more aware of what’s happening in the present and use techniques that allows them to use acceptance as a tool to get past strong thoughts or feelings.
